Glendale is only 25 minutes drive from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and located about 9miles from Phoenix. The city was established in the year 1973 with a highly visible force in historic preservation called Glendale Arizona Historical Society in Glendale Arizona. The citizens are very committed to their ancient history. They are also devoted to preserving and collecting photographs, written materials, artifacts and oral history.

The people of the city actively rebuilt these amazing historical buildings, which at the present time called Glendale Arizona Historical Society as their home base.
Glendale's industrial progress all over 100 year history is a great community is best added up by two words which are transportation and water. The water actually supported the necessary needs of the citizens, it created the economic development of the city. Arizona's Roosevelt Dam and Jack Swilling Canal settled a freedom and stable water supply from the effects of floods and droughts. Results of these water sources, the beautiful city turned into an agricultural capital specializing in melons, beets, lettuce, cotton and sugar.
Jack Swilling, a drug addict and saloon brawler is the founder of the Phoenix who re-activated the ancient Hohokam Indian canals for thousands of acres of farmland irrigation located along the Salt River. Because of his effort, the Southeast Valley Settlements were established that turned out to be the cities of Mesa and Tempe.
However, sadly, no Indian Canals were restored for the western and northern portions of the Salt River Valley. So for more than 15 years, the land areas that made up for Peoria, Glendale and Northwest Phoenix remained raw desert after the settlement of the cities in the east Jack Swilling Valley. The water was really helpful for the Barren Northwest Valley progression.
